Colponema protista koja je sada smještena u natkoljeno Alveolata.[1]
Kolponeme su morski biflagelati, slatkovodni organizmi, a mogu se naći i u tlu; brzi su plivači i grabežljivci drugih manjih flagelata. Imaju uzdužni žlijeb za hranjenje, ali nedostaju im strukture koje imaju mnoge alveolate (apikalni konus, roptrije, cilije itd.). Vrlo su slični onima povezanim Acavomonidia, ali se od njih razlikuju po tome što potonji nemaju uzdužni žlijeb za uzimanje hrane. Zbog svog baznog položaja u filogenetskim stablima, oni su od posebnog interesa za uspostavljanje odnosa između različitih skupina alveolata.
