Miquèu Grosclaude que ved dens la seconda sillaba lo nom de familha Gay (tirat benlhèu deu latin Caius/Gaius), dab ua varianta atestada Gaiz. Per la segonda partida, Grosclaude que supausa ua reduccion deu nom de persona Aner, donc un nom compausat An(er) + Gaiz, o, segonda possibilitat, la partida nobiliara En, alterada. Totun, que son d'ipotèsis shens certitud [2].
