Με την ονομασία NGC 970 καταγράφεται στον Νέο Γενικό Κατάλογο ζεύγος αλληλεπιδρώντων γαλαξιών στον αστερισμό Τρίγωνον. Εκτιμάται ότι απέχουν 471 εκατομμύρια έτη φωτός[3] από τον Γαλαξία μας και πως έχουν διάμετρο 100 χιλιάδων ετών φωτός. Το ζεύγος αυτό ανακαλύφθηκε από τον Bindon Blood Stoney στις 14 Σεπτεμβρίου 1850.[5][6][4]
