Šećerni transporter SWEET1, poznat i kao RAG1-aktivirajući protein 1 i protein ćelijske strome (SMSCP), jest membranski protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom SLC50A1 sa hromosoma 1.[5] SWEET1 je jedini transporter iz porodice gena SLC50 (SWEET) prisutan u genomima većine životinjskih vrsta, sa izuzetkom nematode Caenorhabditis elegans, koja ima sedam[6]

Funkcija

SWEET1 je široko eksprimirann transporter glukoze.[6] Kako je porodica SWEET identificirana relativno nedavno, cijeli spektar njenih funkcija kod životinja još nije jasan.[8] Međutim, goveđi homolog SLC50A1 povezan je sa koncentracijom laktoze u mlijeku,[9] a homolog CiRGA u morski om mlazu Ciona intestinalis neophodan je za diferencijaciju tkiva tokom embriogeneze, posebno za razvoj notohorda.[10]

SWEET geni uobičajeni su u biljnim genomima, sa dvadesetak paraloga [6] koji funkcionišu i kao transporteri saharoze i heksoze, a također su povezani i sa osjetljivošću na patogene.[6][11]
