Axiat o Arsiat [1], o Acciat [2],[3] (Axiat en francés), foneticament [a'tsjat], es una comuna foissenca, situada dins lo departament d'Arièja e la region d'Occitània, ancianament de Miègjorn-Pirenèus.

Toponimia
Las fòrmas ancianas son Arsaz en 1074, Arsat, en 1118 e 1228, Acciato, en 1245, Arciaco, en 1272, (D)arsad, au sègle XIV, Axiat, segon Esquerrier, al sègle XV. La prononciacion seriá [a'tsjat] [4]. Segon Dauzat e Rostaing, lo nom ven del nom d'òme latin Attius e sufixe -acum [5]. Mès caldriá provar lo sufixe -acum. Fòra de la question de la finala, las variacions medievalas del nom escrit son de mal explicar; se lo nom d'origina èra Arsat/Arçac, l'etime seriá pas Attius, mès Arcius, Arsius o Artius, del gallés Arto, « ors » [6].

- Abans la refòrma cantonala de 2014, aplicada en 2015, la comuna èra del canton de Las Cabanas; es ara del canton de Nauta Arièja.
