Lo nom pòt tanben venir de l'atestacion en 732 Ad ventum signifiant "Au vent"[3], de Aventonem o Villa Aventi per designar lo domeni d'un ric proprietari terrenau de l'epòca, autoctòn o Picton, un cert Aventos[4]. - Pachei (nom probablhhe; fr Paché) - Pachiacum vers 1105; Pachec vers 1120; Pacheium 1389; Pasché en 1448; Paché en 1497[5].
