Prometheus [promɛːtʰéu̯s; pro-mé-té-us] (Yunani: Προμηθεύς)[1] ialah seorang tokoh utama dalam mitologi Yunani; dia kononnya dikatikan dengan penciptaan manusia daripada tanah liat serta pemerkenalan mereka kepada ketamadunan[2].

Prometheus dirantaikan pada sebuah batu besar di Caucasus sambil hatinya diratah seekor helang[3] sebelah siang yang kemudiannya memulih sebelah siang. Zeus menghukumnya diseksa sebegitu buat selama-lamanya, namun Herakles muncul di tempat yang sama beberapa tahun kemudian lalu membunuh helang tersebut sambil membebaskan Prometheus dari kesengsaraannya.
