Gaia

Gaia (bahasa Yunani kuno: Γαῖα, daripada perkataan Γῆ Gē, "tanah"),[1] also spelled atau Gaea merupakan penjelmaan Bumi menurut mitologi Yunani[2] serta antara dewa-dewi utama dalam kepercayaan masyarakat tersebut.

Gaia dilihat masyarakat Yunani lama sebagai dewa induk yang melahirkan semua hidupan di Bumi. Dia (dikatakan) merupakan ibu dewa langit Ouranos; penyatuan mereka melahirkan generasi pelopor kayangan Titanides dan Gigantes serta Pontus.

Dia dipadankan dengan dewi Terra dalam kepercayaan tamadun Romawi.[3]
