Brateiu [brateju] (hungare: Baráthely, germane: Pretau) estas komunumo en Rumanio oriente de Mediaș. En 1910 Baráthely havis 1 463 loĝantojn (rumanoj, germanoj); en 1992 estis 1 956 loĝantoj (rumanoj). Ĝia unua skriba mencio estis en 1283. Ĝis 1919 ĝi apartenis al Hungara reĝlando, al Nagy-Küküllő. Administre apartenas al ĝi la vilaĝo Buzd.
