NGC 223

Ο NGC 223 είναι σπειροειδής γαλαξίας στον αστερισμό Κήτος. Απέχει περίπου 240 εκατομμύρια έτη φωτός από το ηλιακό σύστημα και έχει διάμετρο της τάξεως των 30.000 ετών φωτός. Τον ανακάλυψε ο αστρονόμος Τζωρτζ Φίλιπς Μποντ (George Phillips Bond) στις 5 Ιανουαρίου 1853 και ανεξάρτητα από αυτόν εκ νέου ο Χάινριχ ντ' Αρέ (Heinrich Louis d’Arrest). Το 1890 τον περιέγραψε επίσης ο Λιούις Α. Σουίφτ (Lewis A. Swift).[1]
