Kitanga ist ein Verwaltungsbezirk (englisch Ward) des Distrikts Kasulu in der tansanischen Region Kigoma.

Geografie

Kitanga ist ein ländlicher Bezirk in der Seezone, im Nordwesten von Tansania. Er liegt etwa 130 Kilometer Luftlinie nordöstlich der Regionshauptstadt Kigoma. Die Grenze im Osten bildet der Fluss Malagarasi, der in rund 1100 Meter Seehöhe durch flaches Land fließt. Im Westen ist das Land gebirgig und bis zu 1500 Meter hoch.[2] Bei der Volkszählung 2022 lebten 37.731 Menschen in 7759 Haushalten[3] auf einer Fläche von 365 Quadratkilometern.[4] Das Klima ist ein tropisch feuchtes Savannenklima, Aw nach der effektiven Klimaklassifikation.[5]

Der Bezirk grenzt im Westen und Norden an Burundi, im Nordosten und Osten an den Distrikt Kibondo und nur im Süden an einen Bezirk des Distrikts Kasulu:[6]

Gliederung

Der Bezirk besteht aus einer Gemeinde (swahili Mtaa) mit drei Orten (Kitongoji):[7]

Infrastruktur

  • Bildung: Die Kitanga Secondary School ist eine staatliche weiterführende Schule. Sie wurde im Jahr 2022 mit 33 Studenten eröffnet und bildet Mädchen und Burschen bis zur 4. Stufe aus.[8]
  • Gesundheit: Im Bezirk liegen ein staatliches Gesundheitszentrum[9] und eine öffentliche Apotheke.[10]
