Funkcija

Protein kodiran ovim genom je apolipoprotein i član lipokalinske porodice proteina. Utvrđeno je da je povezan sa lipoproteinima velike gustoće i u manjoj mjeri sa lipoproteinima niske gustoće i lipoproteinom bogatim trigliceridima. Kodirani protein se izlučuje kroz plazmamembranu, ali ostaje vezan za membranu, gdje je uključen u transport lipida. Za ovaj gen nađene su dvije varijante transkripta koje kodiraju dvije različite izoforme, ali samo je jedna od njih potpuno okarakterizirana.[7] Prosječna molekulna težina je 21253 Da, a monoizotopska molekulska masa je 21239 Da.
