Wayback Machine

Wayback Machine je digitalna arhiva World Wide Weba i ostalih informacija na Internetu. Pokrenuo ga je 2001. Internet Archive, neprofitna organizacija sa sjedištem u San Franciscu u Kaliforniji u Sjedinjenim Državama .

Osnivači Internet Arhiva Brewster Kahle i Bruce Gilliat pokrenuli su Wayback Machine 2001. kako bi riješili problem nestajanja sadržaja web stranica kad god se promijene ili zatvore.[1] Usluga omogućava korisnicima da vide arhivirane verzije web stranica kroz vrijeme, koje arhiva naziva "trodimenzionalni indeks".[2] Kahle i Gilliat su sačinili mašinu nadajući se da će arhivirati čitav Internet i omogućiti „univerzalni pristup cjelokupnom znanju“.[3]
