Funkcija
Acil-koenzim A oksidaza 3, također poznata kao pristanoil-CoA oksidaza (ACOX3) je uključena u desaturaciju 2-metil razgranatih masnih kiselina u peroksisomima. Za razliku od pacovakog homologa, ljudski gen je eksprimiran u vrlo malim količinama u jetri tako da se njegova iRNK nije mogla otkriti rutinskom Northern blot analizom, imunoblotingom za svoj proizvod ili mjerenjem enzimske aktivnosti. Međutim, ljudska cDNK koje kodira protein od 700 aminokiselina sa peroksisomnim ciljanim C-terminalnim tripeptidom SKL izolirana je i smatra se da se eksprimira pod posebnim uvjetima kao što su specifični razvojne faze ili za tkivo specifičan način u tkivima koja još nisu ispitana.[6]
