Bdeogale adalah sebuah genus garangan yang diusulkan oleh Wilhelm Peters pada 1850 bedasarkan sebuah spesimen garangan yang diambil dari Mozambik.[1] Spesies pada genus ini memiliki kaki yang rapat, dengan empat jari simetris, telinga yang bundar, dan moncong yang tumpul dengan rinarium bulat. Genus ini mencakup empat spesies yang semuanya merupakan hewan terestrial omnivor, serta mencari makan pada daerah dengan vegetasi lebat.[2]
