L'origina dau nom de Vars remontariá au gallés verno-, verna significant "vernhe". Queu mot gallés, passat en occitan e en vielh francés (vergne), balhet son nom a de nombrosas comunas en França[5],[Note 1].
La comuna es estada creada Vars en 1793 dau nom de la parròfia[6].
Istòria
