L'odi es classificat dins la familha de las lengas caucasencas del nòrd-èst, ont forma lo grop lesguic amb l'aghol, l'agvan, l'archi, lo bodokh, lo kryz, lo lesguian, lo rotol, lo tabassaran e lo tsakhor.
La lenga es sovent presentada coma la descendenta de l'agvan, l'albanés caucasenc, parlada dins l'Albania caucasenca[1].
