L'agvan (o aghwan, albanés caucasenc) es una lenga caucasenca del nòrd-èst atudada, que foguèt parlada dins l'anciana Albania caucasenca als sègles VI-VIII, uèi en Daguestan e en Azerbaitjan.

Nom e atestacion

Lo pòble èra conegut per los grècs de l'Antiquitat jos lo nom d'Albanoi. Lo nom agvan ven de la version armènia del nom ałuan, prononciat uèi [aɣwan][1].

La lenga es coneguda per unes manuscrits e inscripcions escrichas amb una escritura pròpia.

Classificacion

L'agvan es classificat dins la familha de las lengas caucasencas del nòrd-èst, ont forma lo grop lesguic amb l'aghol, l'archi, lo bodokh, lo kryz, lo lesguian, l'odi, lo rotol, lo tabassaran e lo tsakhor.

L'odi es sovent presentat coma lo descendent modèrn de l'agvan[1].
