Toponimia
Fara ven del roman 'fara', domeni familial, masatge.
O del germanic, parent de l'alemand Fahr, de l'anglés Fare, amb lo sens primitiu de "desplaçament (de population)", amb una rasiga indo-europèa *POR- ("passar, far passar"), passat al latin POR-T-A ("pòrta") amb un sufix -T-, al grèc PÓROS ("passatge"), a l'eslau PORA ("epòca").
