Arvieus[1][2] o Arviá (localament)[3],[4] [ar'viò]/[ar'vië?] (Arviéu en grafia mistralenca; Arvieu en occitan ancian[5]; Arvieux en francés) es una comuna dau Daufinat occitan dins lo departament dels Auts Aups e la region de Provença-Aups-Còsta d'Azur.

La vau es traversaa per l'Aiga d'Arvieus.

Toponimia
Las atestacions ancianas son, per luec:
- Arvieus - Arveolum en 1311; Arveleum en 1348; Arveolum en 1371; Arvies en 1568; Arvieu en 1762[6].
Dauzat fa venir Arvieus d'un idronime prelatin -*arv-, ambé lo sufixe latin -eolum [7], mas l'associacion d'un nom prelatin, inatestat en mai e d'un sufixe latin es pas çò pus probable. Es pas impossible que Arveolum siá un diminutiu d'arvum, « champ laurat, plana », o quitament « pastenc ». Arvieus es dins una vau larja e l'economia anciana se limitava pas a l'elevatge.

Administracion
- Abans la refòrma cantonala de 2014, aplicaa en 2015, la comuna èra dau canton d'Agulhas; es ara dau canton de Guilhèstra.
