Stipa adalah genus yang mengandungi kira-kira 300 spesies rumput hermafrodit perennial. Ia dikenali secara kolektif sebagai rumput bulu, rumput jarum, dan rumput lembing. Genus ini tergolong dalam subkeluarga Pooideae dan suku Stipeae, yang juga mengandungi banyak spesies yang dahulunya diletakkan dalam Stipa tetapi telah diklasifikasikan semula ke dalam genus baru.
Banyak spesies adalah tanaman foraj penting. Beberapa spesies seperti Stipa brachytricha, S. arundinacea, S. splendens, S. calamagrostis, S. gigantea dan S. pulchra digunakan sebagai tumbuhan hiasan. Satu spesies yang dahulu dikenali, rumput esparto (Macrochloa tenacissima), digunakan untuk kraf dan secara meluas dalam pembuatan kertas.
