Apalone ialah genus labi-labi dari keluarga Trionychidae. Spesies Apalone berasal dari Amerika Utara.

Taburan

Kebanyakan spesies Apalone boleh ditemui di Amerika Syarikat, walau bagaimanapun spesies seperti, A. spinifera, juga ditemui di Kanada dan utara Mexico.

Taksonomi

Apalone adalah pengelasan terbaharu, yang dicadangkan oleh Meylan pada tahun 1987,[2] yang terdiri daripada labi-labi spesies Amerika utara. Ada yang menyenaraikan mereka ke dalam genus Trionyx, namun kini Trionyx merujuk kepada kebanyakan species labi-labi dari Afrika.

Jantina

Labi-labi betina membesar dua kali ganda berbanding jantan. kuku kaki hadapan labi-labi jantan lebih panjang daripada kuku kaki belakang. Manakala kuku kaki belakang betina adalah lebih panjang. In males, the stout tail extends well beyond the posterior edge of the carapace, but in females, the relatively thinner tail barely reaches the edge of the carapace.[3]
