Sternotherus ialah genus kura-kura akuatik yang dikenali sebagai Kura-kura Kesturi. Haiwan ini berasal (endemik) dari Amerika Utara. Genus ini hampir sama dengan genus Kinosternon.[2] Spesies Sternotherus yang sering dijumpai di Amerika Utara ialah Sternotherus odoratus, iaitu Kura-kura Kesturi Biasa.

Taburan

Selatan Kanada, Amerika Syarikat dan Mexico.

Ciri-ciri

Hampir serupa dengan Kura-kura Lumpur, tetapi memiliki cangkerang belakang (karapas) yang lebih melengkung, dengan jungkir ditengahnya. Sternotherus odoratus hanya bersaiz 8–14 cm (3.1–5.5 in) apabila matang, dengan betina lebih besar berbanding jantan.

Diet

Kesemua Kura-kura Kesturi bersifat maging, makan pelbagai haiwan invertebrata seperti ikan dan bangkai.

Perlakuan

Bersifat akuatik. Kura-kura Kesturi Biasa, diketahui sering berjemur di atas kayu dan batu.[2]
