Rakovnica situas sur deklivoj, laŭ traira flankovojo. Rožňava troviĝas 5 km-ojn.
Historio
La vilaĝo estis unue menciita en la jaro 1327 en formo "Rakunchas". En 1710 pro pesto 109 vilaĝanoj mortis. En 1828 oni komputis tie 42 domojn kaj 448 homojn. En 1910 loĝis en Rekenyeújfalu 517 homoj, (476 slovakoj, 26 hungaroj). Ĝis Traktato de Trianon la komunumo apartenis al Hungara reĝlando, al Gömör kaj Kis-Hont, al distrikto de Rozsnyó, poste al Ĉeĥoslovakio, fine ekde 1993 al Slovakio. Inter 1938-1944 Rekenyeújfalu escepte rehungariĝis. Spite la unuan Arbitracion de Vieno la vilaĝo tute ligiĝis al Rozsnyó, tial Hungario rericevis ĝin. En 2001 loĝis en Rakovnica 608 homoj, (590 slovakoj, 14 hungaroj, 2 ĉeĥoj, unusola cigano).
