Funkcija

U jednom istraživanju iz 2017. , identificirani su skupovi funkcionalno povezanih dugolančanih nekodirajućih RNK (lncRNA) i iRNK i procijenivan značaj lncRNK u mreži lncRNK-iRNK. Sroveli su ponderiranu analizu mreže koekspresije gena i analizu obogaćivanja da identifciraju funkcionalne module koekspresiranih lncRNK i iRNK u monojedarnim ćelijama periferne krvi 43 žene. Identificirali su sedam modula i pronašli lokus lncRNK u svakom modulu. Četiri od sedam modula imala su značajna obogaćenja genske ontologije. Neke od čvorišnih lncRNK (npr. SSX8, UCA1, HOXA-AS2, STARD4-AS1 i PCBP1-AS1) imaju poznate funkcije povezane s bolestima kao što su kanceri. U zaključku se navodi da su pokazali da lncRNK mogu imati važnu ulogu u modulima koekspresije lncRNK-iRNK.[7]
