PCI Express (PCI-E) je najnoviji standard komunikacije između komponenti, predstavljen 2002. od strane Intel-a. Osmišljen za grafičke kartice (PCI-E x16 standard) te za ostale računarske dijelove (PCI-E x1 standard), karakteriše ga veća brzina i propusnost od prijašnjih standarda (ISA, PCI, AGP). Omogućava direktnu "čip-na-čip" komunikaciju. PCI-E je serijska sabirnica, te ima propusnost od 2,5 Gb/s u oba smjera.

Postoji nekoliko PCI-E standarda: x1, x2, x4, x8, x16 i x32. Trenutno ne nudi praktična poboljšanja, no to se i očekivalo jer još nema komponenti koje bi iskoristile velike mogućnosti ove sabirnice, što će se u budućnosti sigurno desiti. Već danas se masovno proizvode grafičke kartice za PCI-E sabirnicu koje nude veću propusnost i praktično poboljšanje mogućnosti grafičke kartice i samim time računara.
