Funkcija

Ovaj genski proizvod je član porodice proteina koje karakterizira specifična cistein-bogati C-terminalni domen, koji je uključen u regulaciju transkripcije u ekspresiji virusniog genom. Alternativno započinjanje prevođenja iz uzvodnog ne-AUG (GUG), i unutar okvira, nizvodnog AUG kodona, rezultira proizvodnjom dvije izoforme, p40 i p32, koje imaju različitu subćelijsku lokalizaciju; p32 se uglavnom nalazi u citoplazmi, dok je p40 usmjeren na jedarce. Obje izoforme imaju transkripcijsku regulatornu aktivnost koja se može pripisati C-terminalnom domenu bogatom cisteinom. Alternativne prerada rezultira u više varijanti transkripta.
