Funkcija
Sm-liki proteini identifikovani su u različitim organizmima na osnovu komolgije sekvenci sa porodicom Sm proteina (vidi SNRPD2; MIM 601061). Sm-slični proteini sadrže Sm motiv sekvence, koji se sastoji od dvije regije odvojene poveznicom promjenjive dužine, koja se savija kao petlja. Smatra se da proteini slični Sm tvore stabilne heteromer u česticama tri-snRNP, koje su važne za preradu pre-iRNK (prema OMIMu)[7]
