Iako je stvarna struktura LRRC23 nepoznata, usporedba sa kristalnim strukturama različitih sličnih proteina, poput 2OMW A (e-vrijednost 1,00e-17) otkriva strukturu tipsku za druge proteine bogate leucinom. Naizmjenični beta-listovi i zavojnice stvaraju spiralni peptidni lanac koji tvori lučni oblik s beta-listovima koji zauzimaju konkavnu površinu.[9]
Poravnata struktura 2OMW_A s LRRC23 obuhvata aminokiseline 72-272 proteina LRRC23. Konzervirane sekvence označeni su žutom bojom, pokazujući pravilnost razmaka i unutar ponovljajuće strukture. Ovaj model je nastao korišćenjem softvera Cn3D koji je obezbedio Nacionalni centar za biotehnološke informacije (NCBI).

Funkcija
Funkcija LRRC23 je nepoznata. Član je proteinskih ponavljanja bogatog leucinom, koji su poznati po učešću u interakcijama protein-protein. Eksperimentalni dokazi ukazuju na to da LRRC23 stupa u interakciju s proteinom CD28, na putu koji je povezan sa imunskim sistemom i razvojem regulatornih T-ćelija koje kontroliraju spontanu autoimunsku bolest.[10]
Ljudski genom proizvodi tri poznate varijante LRRC23.[7] Najveća prerađena varijanta, varijanta 3, sadrži osam egzona. Varijante 1 i 2 koriste alternativne prve egzone, a varijanta 2 isključuje sedmi egzon, dajući mu ukupno sedam egzona koji čine iRNK.
