Funkcija
Protein kodiran ovim genom sličan je ING1, proteinu supresoru tumora, koji može stupiti u interakciju s TP53, inhibirati rast ćelija i inducirati apoptozu. Ovaj protein sadrži PHD-prst, koji je čest motiv kod proteina uključenih u remodeliranje hromatina. Ovaj gen može aktivirati p53 transaktivirane promotore, uključujući promotore p21/waf1 i bax. Pokazalo se da prekomjerna ekspresija ovog gena inhibira rast ćelija i izaziva apoptozu. Gubitak alela i smanjena ekspresija ovog gena otkriveni su u karcinomu glave i vrata. Uočene su dvije alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta, koje kodiraju različite izoforme.[6]
