Elongacijski faktor 3 sličan RNK-polimerazi II je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom ELL3.[5]
Međunarodni konzorcij za radijacijsko mapiranje locirao je gen ELL3 na hromosomu 15 (RH44309).

Kloniranje i ekspresija
Pretragom baze podataka EST, Miller et al. (2000) identificirali su sekvence koje pokazuju visoku homologiju sa C-terminalnim sekvencama ELL i ELL2 . Koristeći strategiju zasnovanu na PCR-u, klonirali su ljudsku cDNA pune dužine, koju su označili kao ELL3. Izvedeni približno 400-aminokiselinski protein dijeli oko 50% identiteta sekvence s ELL i ELL2. Northern blot analizom otkriven je transkript od 2 kb eksprimiran isključivo u sjemenicima. Studije imunofluorescencije lokalizirale su ELL3 u jedru.
Funkcija gena
Miller et al. (2000) utvrdili su da ELL3, poput ELL i ELL2, može povećati katalitsku brzinu izduživanja transkripcije RNK-polimerazom II.[7]
