Protein C2 sa domenom hladnog šoka jest protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom CSDC2 sa hromosoma 22.[5][6] Razvijen je sistemski pristup generiranju klonova cDNK koji sadrže otvorene okvire čitanja pune dužine (ORF-ovi), koristeći znanje o strukturi gena iz genomske sekvence. Svaki ORF je amplificiran PCR-om iz skupa primarnih cDNK, kloniran i potvrđen sekvenciranjem. Dobijeni su klonovi koji predstavljaju 70% gena na ljudskom hromosomu 22, dok je pretraživanjem dostupnih kolekcija klonova cDNK pronađeno u najboljem slučaju 48% iz jedne kolekcije i 60% za sve kolekcije zajedno.[7]
