Funkcija
Protein ASRGL1 sastoji se od 308 aminokiselina i aktivira se automatskim cijepanjem na aminokiselini 168, kako bi formirao alfa- i beta-lanac, koji se može dimerizirati u heterodimer.[7] Enzim ASRGL1 ima aktivnost i L-asparaginaze i beta-aspartil peptidaze i može biti uključen u proizvodnju L-aspartata, koji može djelovati kao ekscitacijski neurotransmiter u nekim regijama mozga.
Prema analizi profila i transkriptomike zasnovanoj na antitijelima, protein ASRGL1 prisutan je u svim analiziranim ljudskim tkivima, s najvećom ekspresijom u mozgu, u ženskim tkivima kao što su grlić materice i jajovod i muškom tkivu kao u sjemenicima.[8] Na osnovu konfokusne mikroskopije, ASRGL1 je uglavnom lokaliziran na mikrotubulama.[9]
Klinički značaj
ASRGL1 je visoko eksprimiran u normalnom endometriju i različito izražen u karcinomu endometrija. Gubitak ekspresije ASRGL1 nepovoljna je prognostička značajka za pacijente s karcinomom endometrija.[10][11]
