Funkcija

ACSS3 je dio porodice poznate kao acil-koenzim A sintetaze (ACS), koje kataliziraju početnu reakciju u metabolizmu masnih kiselina. Ova reakcija aktivira masne kiseline tioesterifikacijom do CoA, omogućavajući im tako učešće u anaboličkim i kataboličkim putevima. Postojanje mnogih ACS-ova sugerira da svaki ima jedinstvenu ulogu, usmjeravajući acil-CoA proizvod na određenu metaboličku sudbinu.
