D Gmeind Seis bstoht us mehrere Dörfer, Wiler und vilne Einzelhöf, wo übers ganze Gmeindsbiet verteilt sind. S Dorf Seis isch di mit Abschtand gröschti Sidlig. Öppe zwee Drittel vo de Iiwohner läbet derte. De Gmeindsbann het e Flächi vo 2028 Hektare, dodervo sind 354 Hektare Wald und 195 Hektare sind überbaut. De höchschti Punkt vo de Gmeind isch uf 751 Meter ü. M., de tüüfschti uf 392 Meter. D Nochbargmeinde sind di Aargauer Gmeinde Apel, Au, Mülau, Rüti und Dietel, di Zuger Gmeind Hünebärg und di Lozärner Gmeinde Eibu, Baubu, und Hoonri.

Seis isch zum erschte Mol im 1230i in ere Urkund erwähnt worde. Älter reschpektiv früener erwähnt sind Alike (893; Halahinchova), Rüüsegg (öppe 1130; Ruseca) und Aetteschwil (1179; Agetiswilare). Nach de Eroberig vom Amt Meiebärg durch d Lozärner hei di d Landesherrschaft übernoh, hei si aber ab em 1425i mit allne Eidgnosse müesse teile. S Amt Meiebärg isch zu de Freie Ämter cho, ere gmeine Herrschaft. Im März 1798 sin d Franzose in d Schwiiz iimarschiert un hei di Helvetisch Republik usgrüeft. Seis het in dere Ziit zum Kanton Bade ghört, wo 1803 im noie Kanton Aargau ufggange isch.
