Bosmel (usgschproche: ˈboːs.məl[2]; offiziell: Boswil) isch en Iiwohnergmeind im Bezirk Muri im Schwiizer Kanton Aargau.

Bosmel ligt im Bünztal am Übergang vom flache Talbode uffe zum Lindebärg. De Gmeindsbann het e Flächi vo 1178 Hektare, dodervo sind 258 Hektare Wald und 128 Hektare sind überbaut. De höchschti Punkt vo de Gmeind isch uf 704 Meter ü. M., de tüüfschti uf 429 Meter. D Nochbargmeinde sind Waltischwil, Bünze, Bäsibüre, Arischtau, Muri, Butel, Bepmel und Challere.

Bosmel isch zum erschte Mol in ere Urkund vom Grossmoischter z Züri in de Namesform Bozwila gnennt. Will di Urkund nöd datiirt isch, ischs genaui Alter nöd bekannt. D Forschig nimmt en Entschtehig vo dere Urkund in de Ziit zwüsche 874 und 887 aa. D Landesherrschaft über Bosmel isch bi de Habsburger gläge. Im 1415i hei Eidgenosse de Aargau erobert u e so isch Bosmel de Sitz vo eme Amt und en Teil vo de Freie Ämter worde, ere gemeine Herrschaft. Kompliziirt isch es z Bosmel nach em zweite Villmergerchrieg worde. Di reformiirte Kantön Züri, Bärn und Glaris hei im 1712 d Katholike bsiegt und s Freiamt ufteilt. D Gränze isch uf ere grade Linie zwüsche de Chile vo Underlunkhofe und em Galge z Fahrwange verloffe und het Bosmel - zum Teil sogar einzelni Hüser - in zwei Teil ufteilt. Im März 1798 sind d Franzose in d Schwiiz iimarschiirt und hei di Helvetisch Republik usgruefe. Bosmel het in dere Ziit zum Kanton Bade ghört, wo 1803 zum noie Kanton Aargau cho isch. D Dörfer sind im noie Kanton im 1816 zu einer Gmeind zämme cho.
