Theriosuchus adalah sebuah genus atoposauridae neosuchia punah dari Jura Akhir sampai Kapur Awal di Eropa (Hungaria & selatan Inggris), Asia Tenggara (Thailand) dan barat Amerika Utara (Wyoming), dengan catatan fragmenter dari situs-situs Jura Tengah dan Kapur Awal di Tiongkok, Maroko dan Skotlandia.[2]

Taksonomi

Unsur-unsur tulang kepala T. pusillus

Tiga spesies valid yang kini diakui: Theriosuchus pusillus dari Inggris selatan,[3] T. grandinaris dari rom Thailand,[4] dan T. morrisonensis dari Formasi Morrison di Amerika Utara.[5] Theriosuchus sebelumnya dimasukkan ke Atoposauridae, namun sebuah analisis kladistik tahun 2016 mendapatinya sebgaai neosuchia yang lebih berkerabat dengan para anggota famili Paralligatoridae ketimbang dengan atoposauridae.[2]

Dua spesies yang sebelumnya dimasukkan ke genus tersebut, Theriosuchus ibericus[6] dan T. symplesiodon,[7] yang dipindahkan ke genus baru Sabresuchus.[2] Di sisi lain, Theriosuchus guimarotae dari Portugal[8] dipindahkan ke Knoetschkesuchus.[9]
