Lycaon sekowei adalah sebuah spesies canid punah dari Afrika selatan yang hidup pada awal kala Pleistosen, 2 sampai 1 juta tahun lalu.[1][2]

Hartstone-Rose dkk. mengklaim bahwa L. sekowei merupakan hewan hiperkarnivor seperti iganyana (L. pictus) modern, meskipun kaki depannya tidak beradaptasi untuk berlari. Mereka juga mengusulkan bahwa L. sekowei adalah leluhur dari garis keturunan iganyana bedasarkan kemiripan morfologi gigi dengan L. pictus dan canid Eropa mirip Lycaon.[2] Namun, pada 2013, Madurell-Malapeira dkk. menganggap hipotesis bahwa genus Lycaon berasal dari Eurasia dan meyebar ke Afrika pada 2 juta tahun lalu lebih memungkinkan, mempertimbangkan variasi mencolok dari ciri gigi dan relatif sedikitnya catatan canid mirip Lycaos dari Afrika.[3]
