Aetobatus adalah genus ikan pari yang berasal dari Samudra Atlantik, Pasifik, dan Hindia.[2] Genus ini sebelumnya ditempatkan dalam famili Myliobatidae, tetapi sekarang ditempatkan dalam famili tersendiri yakni Aetobatidae berdasarkan perbedaan yang menonjol dari myliobatidae, terutama sirip dada yang bergabung dengan kepala setinggi mata.[3]
