Ang Verdana ay isang humanistang sans-serif na tipo ng titik na dinisenyo ni Matthew Carter noong 1996 para sa Microsoft Corporation, kasama ang hand-hinting na ginawa ni Thomas Rickner, na noon sa Monotype. Ang pangangailangan para sa ganitong isang pamilya ng tipo ng tiik ay kinilala ni Virginia Howlett ng pangkat ng tipograpiya ng Microsoft at kinomisyon ni Steve Ballmer.[1][2]. Ang pangalang Verdana ay nanggaling sa salitang Ingles na verdant (isang bagay na berde), at Ana (ang pangalan ng panganay ni Howlett).[3]
