Netizen

Ang katawagang netizen ay pinaghalong mga salitang Ingles na Internet at citizen na literal na nangangahulugan bilang "citizen of the net" o "mamamayan ng net."[1][2][3] Sinasalarawan nito ang isang tao[4] na aktibong sumasali sa mga pamayanang online o ang Internet sa pangkalahatan.[5][6]

Naging laganap ang paggamit ng katawagan noong kalagitnaang bahagi ng dekada 1990 upang isalarawan yaong mga bagong heograpiya ng mga tao sa Internet.[7] Si Michael F. Hauben, isang may-akda at isa sa mga tagabunsod ng Internet, ay binigyan ng kredito sa pagkalikha at pagpatanyag ng katawagan.[4][8][9][10][11]
