Sent Legèr representa Leodegarius, d'un nom germanic d'òme, de leud, pòble e gari, lance. Leodegarius era benleu l'evesque d'Autun e màger dau palais au segle VII. Pòt èsser, dins l'oèst, un avesque de Sentas au segle VII ('quò's lo cas per Negre) [3],[4],[2].
