Kerala es un estat de la còsta sud-oèst de Malabar en Índia . Fondat lo 1èr de novembre de 1956, aprèp l'adopcion de la lei sus la reorganizacion dels estats, en combinant las regions de lenga malaialam dels ancians estats de Travancore-Cochin e de Madras. Despartit sus 38 863 km2, es lo vint-tresen pus grand Estat indian en superfícia. Es bordat per Karnataka al nòrd e nòrd-èst, Tamil Nadu e l'èst e al sud e la mar de Lakshadweep a l'oèst. Amb 33 387 677 abitants segon lo recensament de 2011, Kerala es lo tretzen estat indian en populacion. Es devesit en 14 districtes, la capitala es Thiruvananthapuram. Lo malaialam es la lenga pus parlada e tanben la lenga oficiala de l'estat.
