Chartrosa es una montanha dais Preaups situaa dins lo sud-èst de França, a chaval entre los departaments d'Isèra e de Savòia, en region Auvèrnhe Ròse Aups, a aperaquí 80 quilomètres au sud-èst de Lion. S'arbora entre Grenòble au sud, Chambéry au nòrd, Voiron a l'oèst e Saint-Laurent-du-Pont au nòrd-oèst. S'estend sus una superfícia d'aperaquí 400 km2 per una longor de 42 quilomètres, çò que ne fa lo pus pichon massís dals Preaups dau nòrd[1].
