La cartografia es la sciéncia que se maina de la representacion de la Tèrra sus una mapa. Ja que la Tèrra es esferica se deu emplegar un sistèma de projeccions per passar de l'esfèra al plan.
Pasmens a mai de representar los contorns geografics dels objèctes, las superfícias e los angles tanben se tracha de saber representar l'informacion que apareis sus la mapa, de considerar çò qu'es important o pas. Aquò, normalament, depend de çò que se vòl representar sus la mapa e a mai de l'escala.
