Alans[1] (Alos en francés) es una comuna lengadociana en País d'Albi dins lo departament de Tarn e de la region d'Occitània, ancianament de Miègjorn-Pirenèus.

Toponimia
Lo nom es atestat mai d'un còp : Alans, al sègle X, Alas, en 1259, Alanis, en 1382. Es lo nom d'un dels pòbles barbars establits en Gàllia a partir del sègle V : los alans [2]. Lo nom d'aquel vilatge que deviá èsser poblat d'alans, foguèt donat, probablament, per d'abitants gallo-romans d'autres vilatges. Lo grope -an se pronóncia sovent [-ɔ] en lengadocian. Dauzat, qu'escriviá abans Negre, citava, après Rohlfs, lo nom de persona latin Allus, ambe lo sufixe -anus [3], mas l'ipotèsi de Negre es la pus versemblabla.

- Abans la refòrma cantonala de 2014, aplicada en 2015, la comuna èra del canton de Castèlnòu de Montmiralh; es ara del canton de Vignobles et Bastides (en francés), donc de Vinhals e Bastidas.
