Springtail (Collembola) membentuk tiga keturunan terbesar heksapod moden yang tidak lagi dianggap serangga (dua yang lain ialah Protura dan Diplura). Walaupun tiga order kadang-kadang dikelaskan bersama-sama dalam kelas yang dipanggil Entognatha kerana mempunyai bahagian mulut dalaman, mereka kelihatan tidak bersaudara dekat dengan satu sama lain berbanding dengan serangga, yang mempunyai bahagian mulut luaran.
