Sofifi

Sofifi adalah ibukota baru Provinsi Maluku Utara sejak 4 Ogos 2010[1]. Kedudukannya sebagai ibukota provinsi sudah di rencanakan sejak pecahnya Maluku Utara dari Maluku tahun 1999, Ternate menjadi ibukota sementara provinsi ke-27 Indonesia itu.

Gabenor Maluku Utara, Thaib Armain telah menetapkan ibukota Maluku Utara akan dipindah ke Sofifi awal tahun 2007. Keterlambatan ini disebabkan oleh kekurangan infrastruktur di kota tersebut.

Sofifi terletak di Kecamatan Oba Utara, Kota Tidore dan merupakan sebahagian dari poros Pulau Halmahera, di seberang Pulau Ternate.
