Partenogenesis

Partenogenesis (dari Bahasa Yunani Kuno: παρθένος parthénos "dara" + γένεσιςgénesis "ciptaan"[1]) adalah suatu bentuk pembiakan aseks semulajadi melibatkan pertumbuhan dan pembangunan embrio dengan sendirinya tanpa disuburkan oleh benih jantan yang sama spesies.

Pembiakan ini berlaku secara semula jadi dalam alam tumbuhan serta alam haiwan baik yang invertebrata (termasuk nematoda, tardigrada, kutu air, beberapa jenis kala jengking, kutu daun, tungau, lebah, Phasmatodea dan tebuan parasit) dan beberapa vertebrata (ikan,[2] amfibia, reptilia[3][4] sampai burung[5] yang paling jarang).
