Kapsid


Kapsid ialah cangkang protein bagi virus, meliputi bahan gennya. Ia terdiri daripada beberapa subunit struktur oligomer (berulang) diperbuat daripada protein yang dipanggil protomer. Subunit morfologi yang boleh cerap, yang boleh atau tidak boleh secocok dengan protein individu, dipanggil kapsomer. Protein yang mendirikan kapsid dipanggil protein kapsid atau protein kulit virus (VCP). Komponen genom virus termasuk kapsid, bersama dengan protein teras virus yang kadangkala ada, dipanggil teras virus. Kapsid dan teras bersama dirujuk sebagai nukleocapsid (banding juga virion).
